Het mooie Give up your guns van The Buoys is deze week de hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer op nummer 34. Op 36 horen we de Wings binnenkomen met hun Nursery Rhyme Mary had a little lamb. Zomerse noten zien we binnenkomen op 48 en 49 met Takatakata en Holidays. Drama uit Arnhem heeft deze week de treiterschijf veroverd. Alfred Lagarde heeft een hele mooie kanskaart gekregen, een nummer dat je toen ook op zo’n alle 13 goed LP tegenkwam : The Albatros van Lobo, een nummer dat in de Nederlandse hitlijsten helaas weining gedaan heeft.

Leo van der Goot presents Kop Op this morning. Tonight's International Service programmes are:

Terry Davis should have been on between 21.00 and 24.00, but due to rough seas he went to bed after reading the news at 18.30. Paul May and Tony Allan read the rest of the evening's news bulletins. The Top 40 show overruns by 14 minutes.

It now seems fairly certain that Barry Martin will not be appearing on RNI. Another new DJ, Roger Scott, has a hitpick in the Top 40 show this evening.

A number of new jingles made by Paul May are introduced today, together with an advert for the Red Cross.

In the surprise mentions department, Stuart Henry played "Rescue me" by Fontella Bass for Tony Allan on his BBC Radio 1 show this morning.

Terry Davis appeals on his programme for listeners to send in their suggestions for the name of the Mebo 2's teddy bear. Terry is also concerned that nobody except him likes the Al Stewart record, "You don't even know me". Tony Allan and Terry Davis read this evening's news bulletins.

New promos for the Top 40 and news are introduced, featuring Terry Davis. News is read again by Tony Allan and Terry Davis.

 

Thursday 20 April 1972

Leo van der Goot, Nico Steenbergen, Tony Allan and Paul May all go off on shore leave, whilst Hans ten Hooge, Gerard Smit, Mike Ross, Rob Eden and Brian McKenzie return to the Mebo 2. Also arriving on board for the first time today is a new DJ, Arnold Layne.
