De hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer op 31 is een oud plaatje van de Tams dat opnieuw is uitgebracht : Hey girl don’t bother me. Op 34 komt het mooie Only you know and I know van Delaney and Bonnie binnen. Heel voorzichtig schuift Redbone de Top 50 binnen op nummer 45 met de Witch Queen of New-Orleans, een nummer met veel hitpotentie. Deze week twee mooie maar totaal verschillende treiterschijven, waarvan Without a worry in the world hoge ogen zal gaan gooien in de Top 50.

The RNI memories of Michael Downing for this period

Saturday 16 October 1971

Tony Berk presents both Toekomstmuziek and the Peter Holland show today, so a busy day for him. There are new news jingles introduced today on both the Dutch and International services, the latter featuring Paul May. A lot of new jingles in the International service this evening. All of the International service programmes have been given names, which are, with tonight's DJs:

18.00 Mark Stuart (Drive Time)

20.00 Mike Ross (Target Ten)

22.00 Paul May (Swinging Europe)

24.00 Dave Rogers (Nordsee by night)

3.00 Paul May (Skyline)

5.00 -7.00 Mike Ross (Skyline)

The new Smash Play by Rod McKuen has not yet arrived on board the Mebo 2.

A mobile discotheque today features Crispian St John and Tony Berk. Newsreaders this evening are Paul May, Dave Rogers and Mike Ross.

Sunday 17 October 1971

There are two mobile discos today - one in the afternoon with Ferry Maat and Rob Eden and one in the evening with Tony Berk and Crispian St John. This evening's programmes are:

18.00 Mark Stuart (In Concert)

19.00 Dave Rogers (British Top 20)

21.00 Mike Ross (Hitback Show)

22.00 Paul May

24.00 - 3.00 Dave Rogers

News is read by Mike Ross, Paul May and Dave Rogers.

Monday 18 October 1971

Peter Holland is now back from his holiday, so Tony Berk moves to the Factory Call programme. Hans ten Hooge takes over for his week on Driemaster. Hans is also featured in one of two new Smash Play jingles introduced today. The other has Paul May's voice. Newsreaders are Paul May, Dave Rogers and Mike Ross.

Tuesday 19 October 1971

Very heavy interference from the French station on 218m all day today. No change to the programme schedule or newsreaders today.

Wednesday 20 October 1971

Crispian St John has been sacked over the item in his programme a couple of weeks ago which criticised an article in Record Mirror by Rodney Collins. Also Mark Stuart announces in his programme that he will be leaving RNI because he is seasick too often. News tonight is read by Paul May, Mark Stuart and Mike Ross.

Thursday 21 October 1971

The sea was too rough for the tender to pull alongside the Mebo 2 today, although it circled round the ship and items were thrown across. Dave Rogers presents Drive Time as Mark Stuart is too ill. Paul May now takes over Swinging Europe as his permanent show. Paull May, Dave Rogers and Mike Ross read the news.

Friday 22 October 1971

Again no tender today and Dave Rogers presents Drive Time, as Mark Stuart is still feeling too ill. Paul May presents the Skyline programme from 3.00 to 6.00 on Saturday morning. Paul May, Dave Rogers and Mike Ross read the news.

Then the new records which I heard for the first time on RNI between 16 and 22 October 1971:
