She van Charles Aznavour is de hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer op nummer 39. Twee plaatsen lager verwelkomen we Slade met de Banginí Man. De Rubettes staan onveranderd op nummer 1 met Sugar baby love. Paul da Vinco daarentegen staat nummer 1 in de troef 20 met Your baby ainít your baby anymore. In de Troef 20 staan een paar leuke zomerplaatjes zoals Beach Baby van First Class en Hello Summertime van Bobby Goldsboro.

The RNI memories of Michael Downing for this week in 1974

Friday 19 July 1974 was the day that it became clear that RNI's remaining time on the North Sea was now very short, as it was the day that Minister Van Doorn notified Radio Veronica that it would not get any time on the Hilversum radio network, which was the last remaining matter which needed to be dealt with before the date that the Anti-Zeezender Wet would come into force could be set. Radio Veronica celebrated a very special week, with the 500th Top 40 broadcast on Saturday 27 July 1974 and a Top 1000 compiled from the 500 Top 40s since January 1965 broadcast between Tuesday 23 and Saturday 27 July 1974.

On RNI the final DJ change on the International service took place about now, with Jason Wolfe leaving and being replaced by Bob Noakes, who transferred from Radio Caroline. Bob took over as regular presenter of the RNI Request Show from 22.00 to 24.00 on Sunday evening, with the show being recorded if he was not on board.

Robin Banks was the presenter of the Toppers 20 on 19 July 1974. No. 1 was "Too big" by Suzi Quatro and the highest new entry was "The Six Teens" by the Sweet. The Smash Play was "I've got the music in me" by the Kiki Dee Band and the Top 10 LPs was as varied as ever, with the latest albums by Elton John, Bob Dylan and the Band, Genesis, Vigrass and Osborne, Barry Blue and Buffy St Marie amongst the LPs spotlighted by RNI this week.

On the Dutch service, the programme schedule during the week was now:

6.00 Dick de Graaf

9.00 John de Mol Junior (Branding)

10.00 Ted Bouwens

12.00 Tony Berk

14.00 Ferry Maat

16.00 Leo van der Goot

18.00 Gerard Smit or Eric Post (Buitengaats, live from the Mebo 2)

The Super Top 50 show was now four hours long, from 12.00 to 16.00 on Saturday, with an edition of Prijs Bewust at 13.00 with Tony Berk. Ferry Maat remained the presenter of the Top 50 show, but the Troef 20 had a number of different hosts in the final few months of RNI's life, including Eric Post on Saturday 20 July 1974.
