Ze trad toen op in Van Oekel’s Discohoek, waarbij Evert van der Pik steeds de telefoon opnam J Ook Dump, op nummer 19 in de Troef 20, was toen te zien in de Discohoek.

The RNI memories of Michael Downing for this week in 1974

On Saturday 13 July 1974, RNI entered its final 50 days of broadcasting, although at the time that was still not clear. The date that the Anti-Zeezender Wet was to come into effect had not yet been announced and was awaiting Minister Van Doorn's decision on Radio Veronica's request for airtime on the Dutch public broadcasting network. That decision would be delivered to Radio Veronica in the evening of Friday 19 July 1974 and, as we all know, it was negative, but for the time being RNI continued as normal.

The Dutch service newsreaders by this time were Herman de Bruin, Gerard Reitsma and Peter Jager. Marc van Amstel was based on land and served as the relief DJ filling in for any of the regular DJs who were on holiday or otherwise not available. Marc presented Driemaster on Saturday 13 July 1974, including the Troef 20, a fairly regular slot for him at the time.

The Super Top 50 show, presented by Ferry Maat, was by now a four hour show, interrupted at 13.00 for an edition of Prijs Bewust with Tony Berk.

The International service lost Jason Wolfe at this time, which left the team as Brian McKenzie, Don Allen, Robin Banks and Roger Kent. Don Allen presented the Toppers 20 show at 20.00 on Friday 12 July 1974, which introduced the records which would make up much of the playlist for the coming week. Neil Sedaka was the no. 1 for the week with "Laughter in the rain" and the Smash Play was "Drift away" by Dobie Gray.

The Top 10 LPs on the International service this week included the new LPs by Barclay James Harvest, Barry Blue, Elton John, Bryan Ferry, Stealers Wheel, Jim Stafford and Wings.
