Op 49 komt de
ex-kanskaart van Ferry Maat binnen : Lady of the morning van Marvin, Welch
& Farrar. Los Mayas komen binnen op 42 met een plaat dat eigenlijk
helemaal niet in een Top 50 past. Op 30 komen de White Plains binnen met het
mooie When you are a king. De Top 3 bestaat voor 67% uit 11 Provinciën
produkties. De kanskaart van Peter Holland is het geweldig mooie Make it with
you van Bread, een plaat, die in Augustus 1970 al veelvuldig op RNI te horen
was, maar blijkbaar nu pas in Nederland is uitgebracht (of opnieuw is
uitgebracht). De kanskaart van Joost is veel gebruikt voor jingle materiaal
op RNI. Er is zelfs een videoclip voor Toppop van gemaakt, waarbij een
viertal jongeren in “kung-fu” kleding een beetje staan te dansen op de plaat.

both English and Dutch drivers in today’s programmes.
A mobile discotheque today features Peter Holland and Mark Stuart, although Crispian St John is advertised instead of Mark, but is

on holiday and his 9.00 to 12.00 programme is being
presented by Hans ten Hooge live from the Mebo 2. Hans has a hitpick this
week for the first time in a number of weeks –“It’s too late” by Carole King.
The most played records on RNI at present
appear to be “Jelly Roll” by Louis Armstrong, “I’m in love” by Cobra and
“Can’t help talking about you” by Frankie Robinson. International service programmes
follow the same pattern as on Saturday and Crispian
St John, Mike Ross and Dave Rogers are this evening’s newsreaders. Tuesday 13 July 1971 The medium wave and 49 metre shortwave transmitters go off the air at midnight
for transmitter adjustments, meaning that the Dave Rogers midnight to 3.00
show tonight is broadcast only on FM. The 31 metre
shortwave transmitter appears to be off the air at present, as it has been
dropped from the station ID announcements on the half hour. Dave Rogers did a
whole station ID announcement in Dutch today. Programmes
follow the same schedule as yesterday and newsreaders are Crispian
St John and Mike Ross. Announcements begin today for the second
edition of the RNI Souvenir Book. This has 72 pages, is printed in Dutch and
English and, if you order before 31 July 1971, you get a free colour poster of the Mebo 2, an
enlargement of the book’s front cover. The price is 10 guilders or the
equivalent in your own currency. Wednesday 14 July 1971 The medium wave and 49 metre shortwave transmitters return to the air at 6.00
this morning. The 31 metre band transmitter returns
to the air at 16.00 on 9935KHz. Engineer Kurt Baer returns to the Mebo 2 today. In reply to Dave Rogers doing a station
ID announcement in Dutch yesterday, Hans ten Hooge
does one entirely in English during the morning programme
today. There is a mobile discotheque show today featuring Joost
de Draaier and Mark Stuart. Evening news is read by
Crispian St John and Mike Ross. Thursday 15 July 1971 Crispian
St John and Hans ten Hooge go off on the tender and
Mark Stuart and Joost Verhoeven
return, along with Alan West, who has got married during his shore leave.

Ross. Alan West finds that he has brought back to the Mebo

anyway and, if the organisers don’t let her in,
he’ll get stroppy. A mobile discotheque today features Peter Holland and Crispian St John. Friday 16 July 1971 Today is Alan West’s birthday, so the
other DJs on board sing him Happy Birthday at 22.00. Leo van der Goot takes over the morning
Jan Van Veen show, now that Hans ten Hooge is on shore leave.
After asking for ping pong balls on a programme a few weeks ago, Mike Ross is astounded to find
that somebody has sent him 4lb of them. Ferry Maat
