Albert Hammond (met identiteitscrisis) laat ons deze week voor het eerst in de Top 50 op nummer 37 weten dat hij een trein is. Bonnie St Claire komt wat zuinigjes binnen op nummer 50 met Voulez Vous. Dynamite van Mud stijgt deze week van 2 naar 1. De treiterschijf is het prachtige Lorilee van David Gates. De troef 20 is behoorlijk opgeschud met maar liefst 11 nieuwe binnenkomers.

The Troef 20 was broadcast on Saturday afternoon and the one on Saturday 16 March 1974 was presented by Hans ten Hooge. This would prove to be one of his final programmes on RNI – his very last programme was the following morning, 17 March 1974, between 9.00 and 11.00.

The International service DJs in March 1974 were Don Allen, Brian McKenzie, Graham Gill, Robin Banks and Roger Kent, with Rob Eden presenting the weekly Contemporary Music programme on Sunday night. Don Allen presented the International service chart on Friday 15 March 1974 between 20.00 and 22.00, the Toppers 20. This was very much based on the UK chart of the time, with the only record in the Top 20 of 15 March 1974 that was not in the official UK chart being “I shall sing” by Garfunkel at number 20. In 1974, the International service also had a Top 10 LPs, although these were not put into a 1 to 10 style chart. Amongst those in the Top 10 on 15 March 1974 was “Buzzard” by Tucky Buzzard on Purple Records. Purple Records also had the Smash Play that week – “Might just take your life” by Deep Purple. Purple Records of course had an RNI connection – Michael Lindsay, one of RNI’s DJs in 1970, had become label manager of Purple Records.”
