D. Bryant.

The tapes for the Dutch service have not arrived on board the Mebo 2, so the Dutch service today runs as follows:

6.00 Brian McKenzie

8.00 Hans Molenaar

11.00 - 15.00 Gerard Smit (including the Top 50 from 12.00 to 15.00)

By 15.00 the tapes had arrived on the tender, so from 15.00 the programmes returned to normal. Despite several calls over the air forRobin Banks to come to Scheveningen harbour as the tender will be leaving before 18.00 Central European Time, there is no change in the DJs on board today. International service programmes this evening are:

20.00 Mike Ross

22.00 Don Allen (Country'n'Western Jamboree)

24.00 Brian McKenzie

2.00 Mike Ross

4.00 - 7.00 Don Allen

The Country'n'Western Jamboree is the Christmas edition, which was meant to be broadcast next week, but has been brought forward to today due to a change in the Christmas programme schedule. The programme, which is recorded despite Don Allen being on board at the moment, features Christmas songs in country'n'western style. There are promotions for the Christmas programmes broadcast today, including the Top 100 of 1973, the Rock'n'Roll Special and the Country'n'Western Jamboree.

There is very heavy interference on medium wave from Lille today. A mobile disco today features Tony Berk.

Sunday 16 December 1973

Tonight's International service programmes are:

20.00 Mike Ross (Hitback Show)

22.00 Graham Gill (Request Show)

24.00 Don Allen

2.00 - 4.00 Rob Eden (Contemporary Music)

The Hitback Show this evening features records by Gene Pitney, the Shadows, the Searchers, the Everly Brothers, Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick & Tich and the Mamas & Papas. Don Allen is the newsreader during the recorded Request Show.

Monday 17 December 1973

The weather on the North Sea continues to be bad. This evening's 65 Min programme is recorded, although Hans Molenaar is on board the Mebo 2 at present. The International programme schedule this evening is:

20.00 Mike Ross

22.00 Brian McKenzie

1.00 Don Allen

4.00 - 6.00 Skyline

Tuesday 18 December 1973

Ted Bouwens has two interviews on his programme this morning - one with a member of the Cocktail Trio and the other with the new group Double Couple. Ferry Maat has a special on the O'Jays for 25 minutes at 15.10 in his programme, the reason being that they are appearing in concert in Amsterdam this evening, along with Billy Paul and the Intruders.

There is a tender today and it takes off Gerard Smit, Hans Molenaar, Brian McKenzie and Don Allen and brings back Robin Banks, Marc van Amstel and Hans ten Hooge. Marc van Amstel presents Buitengaats and Dutch news is read by Gerard Smit, Hans Molenaar, Marc van Amstel and Hans ten Hooge. International service programmes are:

20.00 Mike Ross

22.00 Robin Banks

1.00 Don Allen

4.00 - 6.00 Skyline

The Don Allen programme is recorded. Interference from Lille on medium wave continues to be very heavy.

Wednesday 19 December 1973

The Dutch service now finishes at exactly 20.00, with the final news broadcast at 19.57.

Thursday 20 December 1973

Still very heavy interference from Lille. The Christmas programme schedule has still not been announced, although it is due to start tomorrow.

Friday 21 December 1973

Mike Ross goes off on the tender and Rob Eden, Graham Gill and A J Beirens return to the Mebo 2. Tonight sees the start of the International service special Christmas programme schedule, which is tonight:

2.00 Rob Eden (Top 100 of 1973)

21.30 Robin Banks (Top 100 of 1973)

23.00 Brian McKenzie (Songs of Love and Hate)

24.00 Graham Gill (Mixed Gill)

2.00 Rob Eden

4.00 - 6.00 Skyline

This evening's portion of the Top 100 was supposed to include 50 records, but only 45 were played. The "Songs of Love and Hate" programme features records by people like Leonard Cohen and Dion. There is a dramatic improvement in medium wave reception at 21.45.

Then the new records played on RNI for the first time in the period 15 to 21 December 1973. There were quite a lot this week, including a few reissues:
